      Bolivia vs Venezuela Predictions

Even though we are only 2 games into what is a marathon 18 game process, this is already a huge match for both sides. Neither Bolivia nor Venezuela picked up anything from their opening two fixtures and they are the bottom two sides currently. A 3rd straight defeat for either would leave their qualification dreams looking very bleak with plenty of tough games still to come.

The importance of the match is likely to lend towards a cautious approach from both managers, who may be a little fearful for their jobs. Bolivia boss Julio César Baldivieso Rico was only appointed in August but has yet to see his side score in 3 defeats in which they’ve conceded 11 goals.

Venezuela won’t offer as much threat as previous opponents Argentina, Uruguay and Ecuador and they are winless since the opening game of Copa America, losing 5 of their 6 matches since then.

Both teams have scored in only 2 of Bolivia’s last 8 fixtures and in only 3 of Venezuela’s last 8 and both sides have struggled for goals during the period. Certainly this has the makings of a tight game with neither side convincing in front of goal so consider backing ‘No’ in the ‘Both Teams to Score’ market at 4/5.

Neither side are really convincing but you have to lean towards the hosts when looking for a winner. Their home record at altitude in La Paz is excellent and they win more than they lose in the city in World Cup qualifying so against Venezuela, who are along with themselves perhaps the weakest team in the CONMEBOL section they might just nick it.

It’s unlikely to be pretty but a 1-0 home win looks decent value at 11/2.
