      Bolton vs Rotherham Predictions

When Rotherham crushed Bolton 4-0 in South Yorkshire on Boxing Day, they looked capable of perhaps even dragging themselves away from the relegation scrap altogether while Bolton looked doomed to League One after such a convincing loss against one of the sides they were trying to catch.

They are still bottom of the league but have successfully managed to close the gap on Rotherham who are just one place above the relegation zone and they would be within one point of the Millers if they can win this.

2 of Bolton’s 3 Championship wins this term have come since that game and they were both at the Macron against Blackburn and MK Dons, who they beat 3-1 a fortnight ago. They also produced a stirring late comeback at Molineux in midweek to claim a 2-2 draw thanks to goals in the final ten minutes from Wellington Silva and Stephen Dobbie.

The Trotters are scrapping for their lives and despite propping up the table for virtually the entire season, victory here would take them to 7 points from 3 games and give them every chance of survival. Rotherham by contrast appear to be heading in the other direction and have lost 5 of their 7 matches since these sides last met.

They’ve lost 11 of their 15 away games this season while Bolton have only lost 3 of their 14 home games in the league, which isn’t bad given their position. Therefore Bolton look good at 8/11 in the ‘draw no bet’ market here and it could be a very different game to the one we saw at the John Smith’s Stadium 6 weeks ago.

These are the two top scorers in the bottom 5 but both concede plenty of goals so we should see a fair amount of goalmouth action here. Bolton are playing with a bit of confidence at last following their recent results and could well get the better of this and a repeat from their last home league game when they won 3-1 looks a good shout at long odds of 18/1.
