A Friday night feast of Bundesliga football

The Bundesliga weekend kicks off in the best possible way with two title hopefuls, Dortmund and Leipzig, battling it out for supremacy ahead of what promises to be another enthralling round of twists and turns at the top of the table.

Dortmund can provisionally go top with a win and thus put the pressure on Bayern Munich, who lead them on goal difference alone. Meanwhile, Leipzig can move to within one point of the top if they win, cracking reasons for both sides to go hammer and tong for the victory here given that the draw suits neither side.

However, it is Dortmund who enter this clash as the form side in Europe, they’re the only side across any of the top-five leagues to win every single competitive game in 2023. That’s not all, Dortmund have averaged the highest goal return (2.9), shots, and shots on target of any Bundesliga side since the restart, so we expect them to keep up that flying form here.

Leipzig can make a game of it

Although we fancy Dortmund for the win, Leipzig are no pushovers themselves and are actually the joint-strongest Bundesliga side across the last 15 rounds, losing only once and winning ten times. The first goal will be crucial in determining the result though, as the side to score first is yet to lose when Leipzig play away!

Watch out for Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku, the fantastic Frenchman already has 12 goals this season and with six goal contributions across his last six games against Dortmund, he’ll be keen to add to that tally here.
