Borussia Monchengladbach vs Manchester City Predictions

After finishing in an impressive 3rd position in the Bundesliga last season, Borussia Monchengladbach couldn’t have predicted their awful start to the new season.

They lost all of their first five Bundesliga games along with a 3-0 defeat to Sevilla in the first Champions League group match.

But it seems that they have finally found their feet and woken up for the long campaign ahead of them.

They broke their duck with a 4-2 thrashing of Augsburg, and followed this up on Saturday with a 3-1 win over Stuttgart.

This has lifted them from the bottom of the Bundesliga table and up to 14th position, and if they can continue this good form their season can be recovered after their disastrous start.

Manchester City his the ground running back in August, winning all of their first five competitive games and looking like sure fire favourites for the Premier League title.

But a 2-1 loss to an out of form Juventus in the Champions League looks to have knocked the City players for six.

They lost the following weekend at home to West Ham, their first domestic defeat of the season, and despite beating Sunderland in the League Cup they fell to their second Premier League defeat when Spurs thrashed them 4-1 on Saturday.

This makes it three losses from their last four games, a period of form that has seen their arch rivals Manchester United replace them at the top of the Premier League table.

This will be an interesting clash on Wednesday. We have a home side who are just coming into form hosting a side who seem to have a curse on their Champions League campaigns, and find themselves in a bit of a rocky patch.

But Manchester City undoubtedly have higher quality players in their team, and they can beat any team in the world on their day.

Four of Monchengladbach’s last five games have ended with over 2.5 goals, and Manchester City have seen all of their last four games have three or more goals scored in them. This makes odds of 8/11 for Over 2.5 Goals look really good, and I’m also backing a 2-2 draw at 12/1.
