      Bosnia vs Wales Predictions

This is a much bigger game for Bosnia than it is for Wales, which might seem strange given Wales can qualify for their first major tournament in over 50 years with a point. However with a home game against Andorra still to come they have as comfortable a safety net as they could possibly wish for and a defeat here wouldn’t be the end of the world.

Bosnia on the other hand cannot qualify directly but are locked in a battle with Israel for 3rd and a play-off spot. Anything other than a win here would see them eliminated if Israel can win their home game against Cyprus so they have all the incentive they could possibly need to go searching for it.

The hosts are paying for a sloppy start to the campaign when they picked up just 2 points from their opening 4 fixtures but they’ve been much more like their old selves of late and have shown some of the form which helped them qualify for Brazil 2014.

They’ve won 10 of their last 14 competitive home games, losing just once and this is a big ask for Wales in spite of their excellent form in this group which has somewhat inexplicably seen them rise into the top 10 of the world rankings.

They are still very dependent on Gareth Bale in an attacking sense and even with his 6 goals they are still the 2nd lowest scorers in this group. The Real Madrid winger has been suffering from a calf injury though and was only fit enough for a brief substitute appearance in the Madrid derby last weekend, his first run-out in 3 weeks.

Chris Coleman could even opt to rest Bale and save him for the considerably more winnable Andorra game. Regardless there is bound to be a bit of anxiety in the Wales camp at being so close to that finals appearance they’ve waited so long for. It was evident in the 0-0 home draw with Israel last time out when they could’ve sealed qualification and they will be tested much more in Bosnia and the hosts look good value for the win at 4/5.

Wales are clearly not prolific goalscorers and couldn’t find a way past the Bosnia defence in Cardiff 12 months ago. The hosts will be the more positive side here and it might just pay dividends and they are worth backing to win 2-0 at 7/1.
