Bradford vs Morecambe Predictions
- Bradford have been undefeated in their last six matches.
- Morecambe have conceded at least one goal in each of their last 7 matches.
- Morecambe have lost 67% of their away matches.
Bradford enjoy home comforts
As we head in to the new year, Bradford City will be hoping that they can right the wrongs of what happened in 2019 and win their spot back in League One. The Bantams have had a solid start to their campaign and know that if they are able to build on this solid platform in 2020 then they should be playing their football back in England’s third tier come this time next season.
A key component in their bid for promotion is maintaining a strong home form. The hosts go into the fixture on New Years Day with the best home record in the division having taken an impressive 26 points from their 12 matches on home soil. Given that they have kept a clean sheet in 42% of their home matches, it is easy to see why they are so strong in front of their own fans.
Relegation a real possibility
The latest side to make the trip to Valley Parade in the hope of earning three points is a Morecambe side who know that relegation come the end of the season is looking a real danger. The visitors are currently second from bottom having claimed 18 points from their 24 games, and although Bury’s exclusion from the Football League means only one side will be relegated, it is not as if the side currently occupying the spot below Morecambe are adrift as they are just one point behind with a game in hand.
The Shrimps are not exactly fluent on the road either as they have managed just two wins from 12 away matches and they have the second worst away record in the league. It is easy to pinpoint their issues too, as they have conceded 43 times this term and have the worst defensive record in all of League Two.
The hosts should prove to be too strong
Although the current form of both of these sides suggests that neither are particularly consistent, a strong home record comes up against an awful away record, so backing a home win looks to be the way to go. Given the visitors are so poor defensively and the hosts have the joint second best defensive record in the division, it could prove to be a defining factor in the final result.
In terms of a correct score tip, we note that the hosts have averaged 1.58 goals per game and kept a clean sheet in 42% of their home matches this season. This, combined with the fact that Morecambe concede an average of 2.08 goals per game and have scored an average of just 0.67 goals per game, suggests backing a 2-0 home win looks to be the way to go.
