Tip Reasoning

Bradford, who would’ve been hoping to have accumulated more points by now, haven’t exactly been flying in League Two this season, though the Bantams will fancy themselves to get the better of a Northampton side that is currently a point lower in the table at Valley Parade on Saturday afternoon.

Claiming two wins, two draws and two losses is hardly an awe-inspiring start to the campaign, but it’s far from terrible. It’s disappointing that Bradford have lost each of their last two matches, though they were somewhat unfortunate on both occasions, so there’s no need for Gary Bowyer’s men to panic.

The Bantams haven’t exactly flourished offensively; they’ve scored only six goals in six games, failing to notch in two of those six, while they’re also averaging a subdued 1.01 expected goals for. However, they’ve looked reasonably useful at the other end. Bowyer’s men head into match-day seven having kept three clean sheets, while they’ve surrendered an average of just 0.67 goals, which if maintained should allow them to take steps in the right direction.

On their own patch, Bradford have been particularly good at restricting their opposition, as just one goal allowed in three matches suggests.

Like Bradford, Northampton have been slow and steady during the early weeks of the season. They’ve picked up a couple of wins, beating Swindon and, somewhat impressively, Plymouth. Unfortunately, they’ve claimed just one point from their other four matches, losing against the likes of Walsall, Macclesfield and Colchester.

On a slightly more positive note, the Cobblers, who’re yet to lose by more than a single goal, do appear to be quite tough to beat, which means that they have something else in common with Saturday’s hosts.

The standout thing about both Bradford and Northampton is that they’ve both been somewhat underwhelming offensively but also tough to get the better of. With this in mind, ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ and ‘Both Teams to Score – NO’ stand out as viable options. Northampton have scored only 0.67 goals per game on the road, while Bradford haven’t exactly flourished at home with an average of 1.00. Add in that the hosts have surrendered only 0.33 on average at Valley Parade and the fact that Northampton have given up an average of 0.67 on the road and a low-scoring game starts to make plenty of appeal at the prices.
