Brentford vs Birmingham Predictions
Brentford come into this game in pretty poor form having won just one of their last seven games. They’ve been a bit of a strange side all season in truth with some dominant wins, even against strong teams but then there have also been lots of games where they’ve dropped points in surprising circumstances. Defeats at Rotherham and last time out at Blackburn will have particularly angered Dean Smith but they do at least have Scott Hogan, one of the division’s deadliest strikers and someone who can score a goal out of nothing. He’s the second top scorer in the league now with 10 goals and he netted in the 1st minute at Ewood last weekend. He certainly looks like the best bet to net the first goal here.
The Bees do average 1.75 points per game at home so their overall home record is reasonably strong but they haven’t won or even scored in any of their last 3 matches at Griffin Park, which really isn’t like them. Birmingham haven’t won any of their last 5 away games though so it’s still likely to be too big an ask for them to come here and claim maximum points. Gary Rowett will surely be content to take a point following another solid home win last weekend and it will keep them ticking along nicely.
Only Brighton have lost fewer games than Birmingham in the Championship this season so they are very tough to beat but they do at times lack that cutting edge required to win tight games. They’ve drawn 50% of their away games this term and although they come here as underdogs, they look well capable of collecting another point from this one. Brentford aren’t playing well enough right now for you to feel confident about backing them so a sharing of the points looks the most likely outcome.
Therefore, backing the draw at 9/4 looks like the best bet here.
