Brentford vs Cardiff Predictions

Cardiff are the only side outside the current top six who have a realistic shot at breaking into it. They will need to improve on their last two performances though if that is to be a realistic goal. They come into this game following a 2-1 defeat at Fulham and 0-0 draw at home to QPR on Saturday. As a result they are 5 points behind Sheffield Wednesday in the final play-off slot but the fact that the two still have to meet is good news for the Londoners even though it is at Hillsborough. The Bluebirds have only won 1 of their last 6 on the road though and could really do with a priceless away win here.

It won’t be easy though against a Brentford side that has found some form. They’ve taken 10 points from their last 4 matches to move into the safety of 13th place. They have little to play for but trying to achieve a top half finish will provide some motivation for them and would be a decent result given the amount of upheaval off the pitch and departure of key players like Andre Gray and James Tarkowski. Dean Smith’s men have only won 2 of their last 11 home games but they have been looking more dangerous of late.

Given Cardiff have to try and win this and given Brentford’s nature is to attack we could see quite an open game here. Both teams have scored in all of Brentford’s last 3 matches and in 6 of their last 8 outings at Griffin Park. The Bluebirds have been involved in some high scoring games but also quite a few 0-0 draws so they are tough to figure out but given the opposition and league situation here this is more likely to fall into the former category. Therefore backing both teams to score at 3/4 looks good.
