Brighton vs Rotherham Predictions

Brighton have made a really good start to the season and look to have put the disappointment of narrowly missing out on promotion last year behind them. Their performances so far have been very reminiscent of their showings in the second half of last season. They look very solid at the back and have kept clean sheets in all 3 of their matches so far, including a tough opening day game at Derby where they drew 0-0. Back on home soil they’ve demonstrated their attacking quality that helped them to some convincing wins last term and has done so again over the past week. They hammered Colchester 4-0 in the League Cup before a comfortable 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the league with Glenn Murray bagging a brace in his first Brighton home game in 6 years.

Given those two utterly convincing home wins, they’ll fancy their chances of securing a third here against a limited Rotherham side. Under the management of Alan Stubbs they made a bright start to the season, scoring twice in the opening 20 minutes against Wolves on the opening day, but it’s gone pretty badly since then. 10 man Wolves came back to secure a 2-2 draw and then let in 8 goals in their next two games, losing 5-4 at home to lower league Morecambe in the League Cup and 3-0 at Villa Park in the league on Saturday.

Stubbs has a huge job on his hands to try and keep Rotherham in this league and this game doesn’t offer him a good chance to kick-start his team’s season. Brighton ought to be right in the hunt for promotion again this year providing they don’t lose any players over the coming fortnight. With the likes of Antony Knockaert pulling the strings from midfield they ought to do what Villa did and create many chances against this dodgy Rotherham defence and a comfortable home win is the most likely outcome.

Therefore backing Brighton -1.0 Asian Handicap at 1.900 looks to offer excellent value here.
