Bristol City vs Birmingham Predictions
Everything is rosy for the Second City club at the moment with manager Gary Rowett having just signed a new contract and the club going well in the Championship. The Blues are only outside the top six on goal difference currently and their last two matches have both been convincing wins against sides around them in the table so a play-off place may not be beyond them.
They were stunning 3-0 winners at Derby a fortnight ago prior to a 3-0 home win over Ipswich last weekend. The Blues will go 6th with a point here given Sheffield Wednesday are involved in the FA Cup but will certainly want all 3.
Bristol City are still looking for a new manager and have been involved in 3 low-scoring games since Steve Cotterill departed. The first was a shock 1-0 win over Middlesbrough at Ashton Gate, only their 5th win all season in the league. However like most of their previous good results this term, they’ve failed to build on it and have suffered successive 1-0 defeats against West Brom in the FA Cup and Leeds in the league since then.
This isn’t a good time to be playing Birmingham, who are 22 points better off and it is a bit of a surprise that Bristol City are favourites here with the bookies given they’ve only won 1 of their last 10 matches and are in the bottom three. Therefore the value looks to lie with Birmingham who can be backed at 11/10 in the ‘draw no bet’ market.
Bristol City don’t score a lot of goals but nor do they keep things tight at the back and they are crying out for a new man to come in and give them a real new direction as they bid to beat the drop. Birmingham will see this as a good opportunity to record a 3rd straight win and they look good value at 14/1 for a 2-0 win.
