Bristol Rovers vs Barrow Predictions
- Bristol Rovers have won four of their last six home League Two fixtures (Drawn 2)
- Barrow have lost five of their last seven away league games (Won 2).
- Barrow have been more potent on their travels than at home recently.
Rovers have momentum at the Memorial
Bristol Rovers can justify their short price for victory against a Barrow team that appear to lack a cutting edge right now. The Bluebirds are struggling to translate their patient, footballing style into goals right now and arrive in Bristol on the back of two 0-0 home draws.
Mark Cooper’s side had the better of both games against lowly Stevenage and inconsistent Harrogate, but their failure to turn dominance into points is a worry for a team just two points above the relegation places.
Bristol Rovers are at their shortest odds for a home league victory since September this week, but have clearly found a formula to win games at the Memorial Stadium of late. Joey Barton’s team have won four of their last six on home soil and held in-form Exeter City to a 1-1 draw at the Mem on Saturday in a game which ebbed and flowed either way.
Promotion-chasing Pirates must be ruthless against bottom sides
The Pirates were without a couple of key players through illness on Saturday and Barton will hope he can freshen up his line-up this week in order to force a vital victory. Only four points off seventh-placed Swindon with a game in hand, Rovers know they have to win games like these against the division’s strugglers and we believe they will.
Both teams to score is probably best left alone here, despite Barrow’s record of scoring in their last four away trips, because Rovers have kept clean sheets in four of their past five at home. Likewise a win to nil isn’t anything like a guarantee because the Bluebirds have been more potent on their travels than at home.
So the overall recommendation is for a home win and a 2-1 correct score forecast in a match which will be decided in the penalty boxes and not by whichever team dominates the midfield and build-up play.
