Bristol Rovers vs Walsall Predictions
- Bristol Rovers have won three of their last four home games
- Walsall have only picked up three wins in 12 away fixtures
- The Gas are on their best run of the season, having picked up 10 points in four games
Rovers heading the right way
Bristol Rovers have really picked up of late, and could yet make a charge for the play-off positions after a run of just two defeats in twelve games, leaving them eight points behind seventh place.
Their form at the Memorial Ground has been strong, with recent wins over Northampton, Rochdale and Hartlepool taking their tally for the season to six victories from 12 home league outings.
Joey Barton’s side also pose a strong threat going forward. They have netted in 11 successive home fixtures, while the only team to prevent them from scoring in their last 17 games, home or away, were leaders Forest Green.
Walsall’s season heading south
It is not that long ago that Walsall were challenging for the play-off positions, but they have lost four matches in a row and sunk into the bottom half of the table.
Matthew Taylor’s side have only won one of their last ten in all competitions and their away form has actually been pretty shoddy over an extended period, picking up just three away league victories in 12 attempts.
The Saddlers, who have seen key players Otis Khan and Ash Taylor leave during the transfer window, have defensive issues too. They have managed just three away clean sheets, and only one in their last eight league games.
I predict that Bristol Rovers will win this game, and their goalscoring exploits suggest they should do so comfortably, so I predict 2-0 as a correct score.
