Burgos hoping to finish on a high

Burgos can still finish in the top half of Segunda with a win, and that would round off a good campaign in what is their first season in the second tier since 2001/02.

Julián Calero’s side have been particularly impressive defensively, conceding just 12 goals in their 20 home matches, with 13 of their 20 fixtures at Estadio El Plantío containing fewer than three strikes.

Just three of their last 11 at all venues have seen three or more goals scored, and only two of their last 13 at home have ended in defeat, so they provide a formidable opponent for Girona.

Girona still sweating on a top six place

Only a win will guarantee Girona a place in the play-offs as they look to get back into La Liga, but their away form of late has not been great, with three of the last four ending in defeat.

Míchel’s side have in fact lost nine times on the road, while their total of just 21 goals scored in 20 games is lower than anybody else in the top six.

Only four of their last 12 on their travels have contained three or more goals, a statistic that extends to just three in 10 when considering all venues, showing matches do tend to remain tight.

I think that this game will end with under three goals across the 90 minutes, but I find it quite hard to separate to the two sides, with a 1-1 draw my correct score prediction.
