Burnley vs Manchester City Predictions

  • Manchester City have seven clean sheets in their last 10 games and have conceded just one goal in their last six away.
  • Burnley have lost their last three games and have failed to score in all of those defeats.
  • City have won to nil in each of the last five meetings between the two sides in all competitions.
  • Raheem Sterling has two goals in his last three games for club and country.

City looking to keep hold of top spot

Manchester City make the trip to Turf Moor on Saturday and it is hard to see Burnley causing the league leaders too many problems.

City signed off with a 4-1 win over Southampton in the FA Cup prior to the international break, while the Clarets return to action for the first time since they went down 2-0 at Brentford on March 12.

The visitors may well have been knocked off top spot by the time this game kicks off as they are just one point clear of Liverpool going into this round of fixtures and the Anfield side entertain Watford in the early game, and they will be looking to ensure they remain as the league leaders with a win in East Lancashire.

The hosts have a few injury issues but defender Ben Mee may be able to return from a knee injury, while Ruben Dias remains unavailable for the visitors.

Back City to keep a clean sheet

Man City are the heavy favourites to win so for a bit more value we need to play around with this fixture and an away win to nil looks a good option.

The Clarets have failed to score in each of their last three games, all defeats, and have failed to score in each of their last two home games. Burnley have lost five Premier League games at Turf Moor this season and in four of those losses their opponents have kept clean sheets.

City have managed seven shut-outs in their last 10 games overall and have conceded just one goal in their last six games away from home. Pep Guardiola’s men have also beaten Burnley without conceding in each of the last five meetings between the two sides in all competitions.

Routine win for visitors

I’m expecting City to win comfortably but Burnley have only conceded more than three goals in one of their 13 home games in the league so they may not win by a huge margin.

The league leaders won the reverse fixture 2-0 but they have been in good scoring form of late, hitting eight goals in total across their last three domestic games, so a 3-0 win for City looks to have a chance in the correct score market.

Finally, an anytime goal for Raheem Sterling stands out as the forward was on target in the FA Cup win at Southampton and he followed that up with a goal for England in their 3-0 win over Ivory Coast during the international break.
