Bury vs Gillingham Predictions
The story of Bury this season is quite remarkable if you think about it. The hosts started the campaign looking the part, going on a five match winning streak at one point; however, The Shakers then plummeted rapidly towards the foot of the table after failing to win for the best part of four months. In recent weeks though, since beating Peterborough mid-way through January, Bury have turned things round and are now unbeaten in five.
The hosts really do appear to have turned a corner of late and it would take a brave punter to go against them here, especially considering that Gillingham have found wins very hard to come by.
Backing Bury to win the match certainly wouldn’t be the worst bet; however, getting behind ‘Bury to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ is the better option.
Even when they were out of form, scoring goals wasn’t exactly hard for Bury. The hosts play a forward-thinking game and, with James Vaughan in their ranks, they have the tools to do some real damage. Having scored 29 goals in their 17 matches on home soil this season, Lee Clark’s side have scored at least twice on ten occasions.
With Gillingham likely to be in a bad way following a 3-1 defeat away to Swindon during the week, it would be no surprise if an in-form Shakers’ side notched yet more goals here. Having conceded no less than 38 goals on the road this season, Gillingham are the not so proud owners of League One’s worst away-defensive record. On top of this, The Gils have conceded at least two goals in no less than 13 of their 18 away matches.
Quite frankly, Gillingham aren’t fancied to make much headway in this fixture and, therefore, this is an excellent opportunity for the home side to continue their scoring exploits.
