Celtic vs Aberdeen Predictions

The Scottish Premiership title race is all but over, but Celtic can make it official on Sunday. The current champions and leaders are nine points clear of 2nd placed Aberdeen with nine points left to play for, and Celtic also possess a vastly superior goal difference. Even if they were to lose every game between now and the end of the season 5-0, Aberdeen would still need to win each game 7-0 to claim the title. Celtic’s successful defence of the title isn’t official yet, but it may as well be.

The leaders beat Hearts 3-1 away from home last weekend to put themselves in this position, but it was only their second win in their last five outings in all competitions. However, they are still unbeaten in normal time in 14 matches despite their lack of wins recently.

Aberdeen know that they have had the chances to give Celtic a real title challenge this season, and it could have been difference had they not lost back to back games against Hearts and St Johnstone recently. They did manage a 4-1 win at home to Motherwell last time out, but the damage had already been done when they lost three matches in the space of a month.

It’s Aberdeen’s away form that has let them down this season, and it’s not changed recently either. They have lost three away days on the bounce and four of their last six in the Scottish Premiership. Celtic, on the other hand, have won seven and drawn two of their nine home matches since their last defeat.

Aberdeen have managed to find the net more often than not though. They have scored in 11 of their last 12 away days in the Scottish Premiership, so they should have a chance of netting against a Celtic side who have conceded in four matches on the bounce and in six of their last eight.

Odds of 3/4 for Both Teams to Score look good to me, but I still think Celtic will get the win, so I’m backing a 3-1 win for the hosts at 10/1.
