Hoops to lose ground in title race

Hibernian have scored two goals or more in 15 of their 27 Premiership games this season, and both teams can find the net when they visit Parkhead to face Celtic on Sunday. Martin O’Neill’s side have scored in 18 of their last 20 league games.

Third-placed Celtic are two places above Hibernian in the table, with 12 more points than the visitors. Both teams have won more games than they’ve lost this season, but Celtic have the better record with 17 wins and six defeats.

Celtic have won their last three Premiership home games and have been winners in 13 of the last 16 home meetings with Hibernian in the league. The visitors’ recent form has been inconsistent, with two wins, two draws and two defeats in their last six games, and they have lost their last two away matches.

Scoring has not been a problem for Celtic this season. They have scored three or more goals in eight of their 26 Premiership games, and have averaged 1.83 goals a game in their six home games against other top-half teams.

Neither side has been solid at the back. Celtic have failed to keep a clean sheet in three of their last four Premiership games against Hibernian, while Hibs have gone six league away games without shutting out the opposition.

Hibernian have been in some low-scoring games of late – four of the last six have gone under 2.5 goals – but there were five goals in their clash with Dundee United two weeks ago, when they won 3-2.

It could be hard to separate these two sides, with the 1-1 draw looking a decent correct-score bet. There have been under 2.5 goals in four of Hibernian’s last six Premiership games.
