Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Chelsea’s last six games have seen both teams score, while BTTS landed in all three of their EFL Cup games so far. Charlton have scored in nine consecutive home matches, while the Blues have conceded in nine of their last 11 games.

Chelsea 2-1

Reason for tip

This game comes at a tricky time for Chelsea, as new manager Liam Rosenior takes charge for the first time. Charlton have lost 10 of 25 league games this term, but they’ve lost only three at the Valley and two were by a one-goal margin. Back the visitors to claim a narrow win on the road.

Andrey Santos To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Santos has struggled for Chelsea this term but he was a regular scorer for Rosenior’s Strasbourg last term, netting 10 goals in Ligue 1 and scoring in their opening French Cup tie. He featured in all three of the Blues’ EFL Cup games so far and he’s likely to get significant minutes in this clash.

Charlton vs Chelsea Predictions

  • Chelsea have seen BTTS land in each of their last six games
  • The Blues’ three EFL Cup games this term each saw both teams score
  • Charlton have scored in their last nine home games

Can Rosenior fix Chelsea’s troubles?

Liam Rosenior takes charge of Chelsea for the first time in Saturday’s visit to the Valley, as the Blues aim to end a five-game winless run.

The Blues have struggled since late November, winning only two of their last 11 matches. They’re also being exposed defensively, having conceded in nine of those games. Rosenior took charge on Thursday following Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat at Fulham, and he has limited time to mend their defensive issues.

The visitors have seen both teams score in seven of their last eight games, including each of their previous six. Chelsea have also struggled defensively with their second-string this term, with BTTS landing in all three of their EFL Cup games.

Charlton have failed to score only once at home all season, and that came back in August. they’ve netted in nine consecutive home matches at the Valley, so both teams to score is the standout bet here.

While Rosenior’s team selection is up in the air, Andrey Santos started all three EFL Cup games and he spent last season on loan with Rosenior’s Strasbourg. He scored 10 goals in Ligue 1 in that campaign, along with netting in their first Coupe de France game, so he’s an interesting option in the goalscorer betting.
