      Charlton vs Swansea City Predictions

This season has been a mixed bag for Swansea, who have just completed a winless month in September. However, their form in August was so good that they still sit second in the Championship table. The Welsh side were able to win at Leeds on August 31st, while they are still waiting for a result in this midweek trip to Charlton. Will they improve in October, or will their poor form continue?

The hosts are another side who enjoyed a fine August, while they joined Swansea towards the top of the table not long ago. They have slumped to sixth place in the table, despite their 1-0 win over previous league leaders Leeds over the weekend. The hosts have a strong home record after that win, with three victories in their five matches at the Valley since returning to the second tier.

Swansea are thriving in their second campaign after relegation. They sit inside the top two, despite losing their manager and two-star players in the summer. The fact that they’ve built this side without spending money and integrating players who were considered cast-offs is really impressive, although it doesn’t seem that sustainable.

The Swans have built their success on a solid structure, as they’ve been incredibly hard to break down on the road. The Swans are yet to lose an away game in the league, having kept a clean sheet in three of their four trips so far. They have held off the likes of Bristol City, Leeds and Derby, so they should be able to stop a Charlton side who are without top scorer Lyle Taylor.

Recent Charlton clashes haven’t been that entertaining without Taylor finishing off chances, with the Addicks seeing under 2.5 goals in their last six Championship matches. They’ve seen two-thirds of their league games this term finish with fewer than three goals scored, while over 2.5 has landed in just one of their four home games this term.

We expect Swansea to come here and hold out against this Charlton side, but the hosts can also claim to be in form at the back with three clean sheets in their last five. Given those records, we are backing a low scoring tie between these two, with under 2.5 goals our tip for this clash. We are also backing a 1-0 victory for the Addicks, who have won 1-0 in two of their last three games at the Valley.
