Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Chelsea have conceded in each of their last eight games, while both teams have scored in eight of Milan’s fixtures this season and they have only failed to score in one of those games.  Given both sides’ issues at the back, we’re expecting both teams to score.

Chelsea 3-1

Reason for tip

The Serie A club have only lost once this season, a 2-1 defeat at home to Napoli, but their performances away from home haven’t been particularly inspiring either. Both of Milan’s road wins have come against teams in the bottom half of Serie A and they were held to a 1-1 draw at Salzburg in their only European trip so far.  Chelsea put in a decent performance at Crystal Palace on Saturday and can back that up with a 3-1 win over Milan.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened his Chelsea account at Crystal Palace at the weekend and that could well kickstart a scoring spree, so back him to trouble Milan’s backline.

Chelsea vs AC Milan Predictions

  • Chelsea have conceded in each of their last eight games.
  • Both teams have scored in eight of Milan’s fixtures this season.
  • Milan struggled on their travels in Europe last season.
  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened his Chelsea account at Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Key Milan test for Chelsea

Chelsea take on AC Milan on Wednesday in a game that could well be crucial to their hopes of progressing in the Champions League.

The Blues sit bottom of Group E with just one point on the board after two games, while Milan are top with four points. The table is tight at the moment but a defeat for Chelsea could leave their European hopes hanging by a thread and the Italian outfit are likely to provide a stern test.

Defensive issues still a concern for Chelsea

The visit of Milan will be Graham Potter’s third match in charge of Chelsea and it looks as if the new boss still has some work to do to shore up their defence.

The Stamford Bridge club have only managed one clean sheet this term and that came against Everton in their curtain raiser, meaning they have gone eight games without a shut-out.

The Rossoneri have only failed to score in one of their 10 games across all competitions and both teams have scored in eight of those games, so backing both teams to score has real appeal for our main bet.

Early signs still promising for Potter

Chelsea’s defence may need some fine tuning, but they did put in an improved performance in a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace over the weekend and they may well be able to get the better of Milan.

The San Siro club lost at Liverpool, Porto and Atletico Madrid in Europe last season and with that in mind a 3-1 win for Chelsea appeals, potentially with a late goal to add a bit of gloss to the scoreline as this could still be a tight game.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got off the mark for his new club over the weekend and that strike against Palace may well have been the confidence boost he needed to kickstart his Chelsea career, and an anytime goal for the forward also looks an interesting option for this European fixture.
