Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Chelsea won 4-1 in Sweden and they took their eye off the ball in the last round following a 3-0 victory at Legia Warsaw. The Blues lost the return game 2-1, so the visitors should have a chance of at least getting on the scoresheet again. Five of Chelsea’s last seven games in Europe have seen them concede, while Djurgarden produced a second-leg comeback at Rapid Vienna in the last round.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

While Chelsea were 4-1 winners last week, they edged the xG battle 2.1 to 1.4. The Blues can afford to slip up here as they focus on a huge Premier League game at the weekend, so back their rotated team to struggle against a Djurgarden team who have lost one one their last seven trips in this competition.

Marc Cucurella To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Cucurella has popped up with key goals for Chelsea this term, but he’s really shined against weaker opposition. He scored against Legia in their last home European game and had a second ruled out. The Spaniard has also scored against Leicester, Southampton, Shamrock Rovers, Brentford, and Wolves this term.

Chelsea vs Djurgarden Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in five of Chelsea’s last seven Conference League games
  • The Blues took their eye off the ball with a 3-0 lead in the last round, losing 2-1 at home to Legia Warsaw
  • Djurgarden have lost one of their last seven Conference League trips, winning 4-1 at Rapid Vienna in the last round

Complacency could cost Chelsea

Chelsea were 4-1 winners in Sweden last week, allowing them to shift focus away from this second leg towards key Premier League games. The Blues beat Liverpool 3-1 on Sunday, while they head to Newcastle this weekend in a crucial game in the race for the Champions League spots.

The Blues similarly took their eye off the ball in the last round of the Conference League, as they won 3-0 at Legia Warsaw ahead of the second leg at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to the Polish side, while they did the same at Servette in the qualifiers after winning the first game.

Djurgarden turned around a 1-0 home defeat to Rapid Vienna in the away leg of their quarter-final, winning 2-1 in 90 minutes and 4-1 after extra-time. While this is a huge step-up in class, they can at least find the net against a Chelsea side who have conceded in five of their previous seven Conference League games.

The Swedish outfit have lost just once in their last seven away games in Europe, so they can hold off a Chelsea side who will have their attentions focused elsewhere. Back both teams to score, with the visitors securing a 1-1 draw.
