Things just go from bad to worse for relegation-threatened Clermont as their inability to score goals cost them once again during the week – losing 2-0 at home to surprise package Strasbourg. This result means that they’ve now secured victory just once across their last 11 matches, losing eight of those. They haven’t tasted victory on home soil since October and their fans will be desperate to see to be reminded what a win feels like.

Rennes absolutely obliterated Bordeaux in their last outing as they cruised to a 6-0 victory. It means they’re now firmly back in contention for a Champions League spot and it wasn’t the first time they’ve scored six in a match this season, as their reverse fixture against this weekends opponents also saw them win by the same scoreline.

Clermont to continue to be toothless up top

We do think Rennes will secure a victory here, but we like the value on both teams not scoring as we feel Clermont are just toothless without striker Mohamed Bayo, who’s away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations. As such, we don’t think Clermont will be able to fashion any cutting opportunities.
