Colchester United vs Charlton Betting Tips

The FA Cup seems to be the only place that Colchester United are getting any luck at the moment. They have lost nine of their last 12 matches in all competitions and only won twice.

Both of these victories came in the FA Cup, but a 6-2 thrashing of Wealdstone Raiders and a 3-2 win over Altrincham was not enough to lift their league form.

This has left them languishing in the relegation zone of League One, with their 21 point total leaving them five points adrift of safety.

Charlton aren’t doing any better than their opponents though. Their 20 point total in the Championship has put them in 23^rd position in that league, and they could well find themselves plying their trade in League One next term.

Charlton haven’t won any of their last eight matches in all competitions, although their four draws during this spell is a vast improvement over their previous winless streak.

These winless streaks are broken up by back to back victories in November, and before that they had gone 12 matches without a victory and lost ten times.

Both sides have really struggled defensively for the majority of the season. Colchester haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last 17 games and have conceded 27 times in their last ten matches. Charlton have kept two clean sheets in their last 24 matches and conceded 16 goals in their last eight appearances.

With Charlton being away from home as well it’s difficult to see either team keeping a clean sheet on Saturday. The odds may look fairly short, but I think there’s value to be had in backing Both Teams to Score at 4/7 along with a 2-1 Charlton win at 9/1.
