Corinthians vs Cruzeiro Predictions
Saturday’s Brazilian Serie A action sees Corinthians doing battle with Cruzeiro in Sao Paulo. A close game is expected to be in order as the two sides fight for the points on offer for very diffeent reasons.
Despite being stationed in a decent 4th place in Serie A, hosts Corinthians come into Saturday’s game under big pressure. Indeed, the side haven’t blown fans away with their conservative style of football this season and now that results have started to dry up, questions are being asked of boss Fabio Carille’s future, with a large portion of the fanbase wanting him to leave.
Indeed, without a win in 4, Corinthians aren’t in the best of form and they need to start winning again if they are to finish in the top 6. Timao have at least drawn 3 of said games, so are proving hard to beat but it’s wins they need right now and three points is exactly what they’ll be targeting this Saturday.
Meanwhile, Cruzerio’s situation is a far more severe one than Corinthians’. Plagued by off the pitch issues and lack of cohesion on it, Raposa shockingly find themselves in the relegation zone and dropping into Serie B for the first time ever looks a real possibility; something which is very surprising considering most had them pencilled in to fight for the title.
Nonetheless, after some promising performances since Abel Braga came in, unfortunately drawing 3 times consecutively in games they were the better team, Cruzeiro picked up a vital win at home to Sao Paulo in midweek. That has confidence in travelling ranks somewhat restored and there can be no doubting the team have the quality on paper to get out of trouble.
Ultimately, we’re expecting this to be a close and competitive game. A couple of months ago, you’d have said with near certainty that the clash had a home win all over it but Corinthians form has dipped in recent weeks and Cruzeiro are finally showing signs of coming to life.
All things considered, it’s backing a draw that’s captured our attention as far as the betting is concerned and is something we’re more than happy to do. Corinthians have drawn 8 of their last 15 matches, including 3 of their last 4 and with Cruzeiro having also drawn 3 of their last 4 games, a 1-1 draw could well be on the cards come full time. The sides drew when they met earlier in the season and it’s not hard to imagine them doing so again here.
