Cruzeiro have had a torrid season so far and have the worst home record in the division but in their last two matches we have seen signs that they may have finally turned the corner. A Rafael Sóbis hat-trick fired them to a 4-2 win against Internacional in their most recent home game and they backed that up with a very good 1-1 draw at defending champions Corinthians last time out. They are still in the drop-zone but can move out of it with 3 points here which they will certainly be targeting.

Cruzeiro would move above Coritiba with a win so it is a big game for both teams. Coritiba got an excellent win last time out when they beat Ponte Preta 3-1 at home. However once again there is a great disparity between their home and away form. Only 5 of their 21 points this season have come away from home and they head here having lost 8 of their last 11 away games in all competitions. They are putting a lot of pressure on themselves at home and it’s hard to see them not being in the frame for the drop come the end of the season.

There is real potential for there to be a few goals in this game. Cruzeiro look to have turned a corner in that they are creating more chances and scoring more goals but at the other end they are still looking a bit fragile. They’ve gone 11 games without keeping a clean sheet in all competitions so you have to give Coritiba a chance of getting on the scoresheet.
