Reason for tip

Crystal Palace have drawn three of their last six Premier League home games while Everton have drawn three of their last six Premier League away games. Three of the last head-to-head meetings have finished all square too.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in Palace’s last six home league games with Glasner’s side registering exactly once on four occasions and conceding a solitary goal three times. Everton have not scored more than one goal in any of their last seven away games so a 1-1 draw looks to be the limit of these sides’ goalscoring potential.

Jean Philippe Mateta To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Jean-Philippe Mateta has scored six of Palace’s last eight league goals and, after bagging twice at Old Trafford earlier this month, will be full of confidence going into this contest.

Crystal Palace vs Everton Predictions

  • Three of the last head-to-head meetings have been drawn

Everton can clip the Eagles’ wings

Only three points separate Crystal Palace and Everton in the Premier League table and that could remain the state of play after a closely-fought 90 minutes between the clubs on Saturday. The Eagles have had an excellent year to date, winning five and drawing one of their seven league and cup matches.

Oliver Glasner’s side were rock solid and took their opportunities well at Old Trafford a fortnight ago to record their third top-flight win in four and they followed that up with another 2-0 away win at Doncaster on Monday.

Palace will probably have a few more problems when going up against an Everton team that have been galvanised by the mid-season managerial re-appointment of David Moyes.

Moyes must avoid a post-derby hangover

The Toffees head to Selhurst Park on the back of a memorable finish to the Merseyside derby on Wednesday night when they salvaged a 2-2 draw in stoppage time. They had been the better team for most of the second half and a point was about what they deserved from it, despite Liverpool’s post-match protestations.

As they bask in the afterglow of a great result against the table-toppers, Moyes now has the task of trying to ensure his team are just as excited about a mid-table scrap with Palace. Everton have a very good record in recent years against the South Londoners, however, with five wins and three draws in the last eight head-to-head meetings.

Glasner’s side have also been a more effective force away from home with 13 of the Eagles’ last 17 points having been picked up on the road. They have drawn three of their last six Premier League games at Selhurst Park and another stalemate offers a great way into this contest.

Both teams likely to score in draw

Both teams could win this if things go their way with Everton’s recent 1-0 away win at Brighton a potential blueprint for how they will set about their business. Palace have won only two of their 12 home league games this term, both being by one goal against Tottenham and Southampton, so there is little statistical encouragement to back the hosts at any odds-on price.

Instead, take the draw at around 5/2, with Everton having also drawn half of their last six away league contests. Both teams tend to score in Palace home games but not in Everton away games, although only one has been played under Moyes’ stewardship.

A 1-1 draw looks the most likely result and given neither of these clubs are challenging for Europe, another point nearer safety will probably be an acceptable outcome for Glasner and Moyes.
