Cultural Leonesa vs Lugo Predictions
Leonesa do come into this match in fine form having avoided defeat in each of their last five fixtures, three of which they’ve won, though it’s all a bit too late. Had they turned their form around earlier, the team from León may have been able to finish higher up the table. They will still be eyeing up a good end to the season and this match against a weak Lugo side presents the hosts with the opportunity to continue their unbeaten run.
Unlike the hosts, Lugo haven’t exactly been in great form of late. The visitors did beat bottom-of-the-pile Sevilla II last time out, but who hasn’t? Beating a side that has been abysmal this season is hardly anything to be proud of. Prior to that victory, Francisco’s men were without a win in six. They’re not always the worst team defensively, or at least they don’t often get beaten by much, but they continue to struggle offensively.
As touched on above, this is an excellent chance for the hosts to extend their unbeaten run. The visitors have been very poor on their travels this season, while they find it hard to threaten teams offensively. The fact that Lugo have scored just two goals in their last six away matches bodes well for the hosts, who’ve scored plenty of goals on home soil this season.
Lugo may be ahead of the hosts in the table, but their away form suggests that they could easily struggle at Estadio Reino de León. In truth, their form on the road has cost them dearly this season.
They may not have been as bad as some teams in terms of conceding goals, though that certainly doesn’t mean that Lugo have done well in that respect. However, the main concern for the travelling fans will be the fact that their side simply do not score enough goals, especially on the road. In fact, only three teams in the entire division have scored less than the paltry 15 goals notched by Lugo away from home this season. Unsurprisingly, Francisco’s men have failed to score in 42% of their away matches in the league.
Not only is the visitors overall away record, which reads five wins, four draws and ten losses, poor, but the hosts have been doing well at home of late. What’s more, unlike the visitors, Leonesa have been among the goals. It is this extra ability in the forward areas that could be the difference for the hosts, who’ve scored five in their last two at Estadio Reino de León.
After beating Tenerife in their last match, who’re level of points with Lugo in the table, the hosts should be confident. In addition, they’ve generally done well at home, especially from a goal-scoring point of view. Leonesa have won six of their last ten at home, while they’ve scored twice in eight of their last ten at home. Defensively, they probably aren’t quite as sound as their opponents, but superior attacking ability should be enough to see them through on home soil.
