      Gibraltar ++3

      Reason for tip

      Czechia are out of form, following up last month’s defeat to the Faroe Islands with Thursday’s narrow friendly win over San Marino. Gibraltar have only conceded more than two goals in one of their last six games and can keep this one competitive.

      Czechia 2-0

      Reason for tip

      Czechia won March’s reverse meeting between this pair 4-0, but their form has nosedived since then while Gibraltar’s has improved. With a World Cup play-off on the horizon, the Czechs will no doubt take a low-scoring win and move on, bringing the 2-0 home success firmly into play.

      Czechia vs Gibraltar Predictions

      • Czechia’s only win across their last four matches was a narrow 1-0 friendly success over San Marino.
      • The Czechs lost 2-1 away to the Faroe Islands in their last competitive fixture.
      • Gibraltar have only conceded more than two goals in one of their last six games.

      Czechs look disjointed

      Croatia’s victory over the Faroe Islands on Friday means Czechia are heading for the World Cup play-offs, but they are unlikely to do so with much confidence based on their current form.

      Last month’s defeat to the Faroes extended the Czech’s winless run to three matches and cost head coach Ivan Hasek his job.

      Jaroslav Kostl has taken temporary charge and although he oversaw a win in his first match, it was far from convincing as they edged past San Marino 1-0 in Karvina on Thursday.

      Now they will take on another minnow of European football in Gibraltar, who took four points off San Marino in the UEFA Nations League last year, and although Czechia should win this game, it is unlikely to be in convincing fashion.

      Gibraltar showing signs of resilience

      Gibraltar lost their opening three matches in this qualifying campaign, shipping 14 goals in the process, including four in a 4-0 home loss to the Czechs in March.

      However, Scott Wiseman’s side have improved greatly in their last four qualifiers, conceding just eight times and suffering narrow one goal defeats to the Faroes twice and, most recently, against Montenegro on Friday.

      Team 54 have only conceded more than twice in one of their last six internationals, and even then there was no disgrace in a 3-0 away defeat to Croatia. They can certainly keep things competitive against the Czechs and may be worth siding with in the handicap market.
