DC United vs New England Revolution Predictions

DC United and New England Revolution finished just one point apart last season as they finished in 4th and 5th place respectively in the MLS Eastern Conference, but so far this season neither of them have been particularly impressive.

DC United started their campaign with a collapse at LA Galaxy. They led the star studded hosts 1-0 at half-time but ended up losing 4-1, and they have since drawn three, lost two, and won one of their six MLS matches.

Their 4-0 win over Whitecaps a couple of weekends ago threatened to fire DC United’s season into life, but they followed it up with a dismal 1-0 defeat at home to Toronto FC, leaving their points tally on six after seven games.

New England Revolution have managed eight points from their opening seven matches, but like their opponents that includes just a single victory. Five of their seven MLS games so far have ended all square, with a 1-0 win at home to New York Red Bulls and a 3-0 defeat at Philadelphia Union making up their other two results.

All credit to the visitors, they have proved very difficult to beat this season, but they need to start picking up three points if they are to improve on last season’s finish in the MLS.

Both of these teams have been relatively goalshy so far this campaign. DC United have only netted seven goals in their seven matches so far, and four of those came in a single match. New England Revolution have managed eight goals in total, but three of those came in their opening day draw with Houston Dynamo.

This has resulted in some fairly low scoring matches, Six of DC United’s nine competitive games this campaign have seen fewer than three goals, with four of New England’s seven also going the same way. This makes odds of 10/11 for Under 2.5 Goals look decent value to me, and I’m going for a 1-1 draw at 11/2 as well.
