Deportivo La Coruna vs Atletico Madrid Predictions
It has been quite a strong start from the 2014 champions. They’ve already played all of the sides that finished with them in the top 6 last year and yet they are only 2 points behind Barcelona and Real Madrid after 9 games. With plenty of winnable fixtures coming up they have an opportunity to put some real pressure on the big two.
They were 2-1 winners at home to Valencia last time out but the scoreline didn’t really do justice to Atletico’s dominance. With new signings Jackson Martinez and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco both scoring, they are starting to look like an improved outfit on last year and they might just be too strong for Deportivo on Friday.
It’s probably not a bad time to go to La Coruna either. Depor were riding the crest of a wave in the early weeks of the season following on from a dramatic survival last year. However they’ve ran into a little trouble in the last few games with just 2 points coming from their last 3 in the league and a 2-0 defeat to Malaga last time out.
Their record at the Riazor has been poor for quite a while and they’ve only won 2 of their last 11 La Liga home games. They scored twice late on to rescue a point against Athletic Bilbao in their last match in Galicia but it is unlikely Atleti will be so generous.
The side from the capital have a good recent record at the Riazor and won here 2-1 in April. At 4/5 they are worth backing to seal all the points again here and head to the top of the table for 24 hours at least.
Diego Simeone’s men rarely win matches heavily but are very strong defensively and have only conceded once away from home in all competitions this season. They’ve won 3 of those games 2-0 and are good value to do likewise here at 6/1.
