Deportivo La Coruna vs Sevilla Predictions

Deportivo are exceeding all expectations right now. Having narrowly missed the drop last year, they are currently in 5th place as we head towards Christmas and have only been beaten twice all season. They have won their last 3 matches in all competitions beating local rivals Celta Vigo 2-0 prior to a victory by the same margin at Las Palmas last weekend. A 2-1 win at Llagostera in the Copa del Rey in midweek means they head into this game full of confidence and 5 places above opponents Sevilla.

The Andalucians were 1-0 winners against a lackluster Valencia side that finished with 9 men last weekend and were also winners against lower league opposition in the Copa del Rey but they haven’t been in the best of form overall, especially on the road.

Their victory at 3rd tier UD Logroñés was their first away from the Sanchez Pizjuan all season at the 11th time of asking. Prior to that they had lost 4 successive away games bringing their total number of away defeats this season to 7 already.

It’s not really good enough for a side who finished 5th last season and hold top four ambitions this term and given that it is surprising to see Sevilla as the bookmakers favourites to win this game.

Deportivo have been really impressive so far this term and there is no reason why they won’t continue that here. You can back them here in the ‘draw no bet’ market at 6/5 which surely represents a sensible strategy.

They don’t tend to win convincingly though and this is likely to be close but with home advantage they are capable of nicking it and a 2-1 Depor win looks good value at 10/1.
