Dijon vs Auxerre Predictions

Dijon still in post-relegation slump

Auxerre will bid to extend their four-game winning streak away to a Dijon team that still appears to be suffering from a post-relegation hangover on Monday.

DFCO has fallen way behind expectations after a series of hiccups and currently sits among the bottom five with their only home victories this season having come against fellow strugglers Bastia, Dunkerque and Amiens. Patrice Garande’s men suffered 1-0 reverses to Paris FC and Ajaccio in their last two league games before getting a morale-boosting 3-0 cup win over part-time Saint-Appolinaire  from France’s fifth tier.

Visitors arrive in great form

Conversely, Auxerre will make the 90 minute coach journey south on the back of their best form of the season after three straight league wins and a cup victory over another fifth-tier club.

Jean-Marc Furlan’s side rebounded perfectly from their 6-0 mauling at Toulouse a  month ago and sit just one point behind the leaders going into the current round of fixtures. That Toulouse loss remains the only away blemish on Auxerre’s away record and we don’t expect them to slip to another defeat against a Dijon side that looks unable to trouble better teams at Stade Gaston-Gérard.

All three of Auxerre’s away victories this season have come with their opponents also on the scoresheet and Dijon have scored in six of their eight home contests, so the correct score bet that seems to suit best is a 2-1 away win.
