      Doncaster vs Leeds Predictions

Both sides kicked off their respective league seasons at the weekend. Leeds were involved in the Saturday lunch-time game with Burnley at Elland Road. They looked to be on the way to 3 points too against the recently relegated side when Mirko Antenucci brilliantly broke the deadlock and fired Leeds into an 83rd minute lead. However their advantage lasted only 3 minutes as Sam Vokes equalised for Burnley to share the points.

It was a solid opening day result for Leeds though who are under the stewardship of Uwe Rosler after another managerial change was brought about by controversial owner Massimo Cellini at the end of last season.

Doncaster were also in the second tier of English football as recently as two seasons ago but finished 13th in League 1 last season. They began the new campaign with a somewhat underwhelming 1-1 home draw with Bury on Saturday. They had a pretty strong pre-season though which included a win over Sunderland at the Keepmoat Stadium while they held Championship sides Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest to draws.

They’ll fancy their chances of causing an upset here and have some pedigree in this competition. They knocked out Championship Watford last season on their way to the 3rd Round and have made it through their 1st Round tie 9 times out of 11 since returning to the Football League.

This is the 3rd time in 5 seasons that Leeds visit Doncaster in the Capital One Cup and they are looking for their 3rd win. The West Yorkshire club won 2-1 at Doncaster in 2011 when Ramon Nunez scored twice and were also 3-1 winners when they again visited in the 2nd Round in 2013.

Despite their recent decline, Leeds have never lost in the 1st Round of the League Cup but did go out in the 2nd Round against lower league Yorkshire opposition in the shape of near neighbours Bradford City last season.

Leeds look in far better shape now than they did 12 months ago though. They picked up an impressive pre-season win over Everton and looked pretty assured at the weekend against a side that was in the Premier League last season.

At 13/10 the visitors look good value here to secure a 3rd League Cup win at the Keepmoat Stadium in the space of 4 years.
