      Livingston To Win To Nil

      Reason for tip

While East Fife will be full of momentum after securing promotion to League One, but so will Premiership new boys Livingston. Livi ended last season with four wins to nil in seven matches and can shut out their hosts.

      Livingston 2-0

      Reason for tip

Two of Livingston’s last three wins have come by a 2-0 scoreline and while they are facing lesser opposition in third-tier East Fife, manager David Martindale has admitted his side are a bit ‘undercooked’ after starting their pre-season later than most sides and two goals may be their limit again.

      East Fife vs Livingston Predictions

      • East Fife lost both of their pre-season home matches, shipping seven goals
      • Livingston have won four of their last seven competitive games without conceding
      • Livi ended last season with a run of four straight away victories

Promoted pair looking to keep momentum

Two clubs riding the high of promotion meet in the first round of Scottish League Cup fixtures when East Fife take on Livingston on Saturday.

The hosts finished second in League Two last term and will be playing in the third tier for the first time since 2022 this season. Livingston, meanwhile, achieved the same finish in the Championship to make an immediate return to the top flight.

Interestingly, despite Livi’s league success, they crashed out in the group stage of the League Cup last term, with a 1-0 loss to fourth-tier The Spartans costing them a spot in the next round, so East Fife will be targeting an upset.

Livi likely to prove far too strong for Fifers

However, Livingston have wasted no time in strengthening their squad ahead of their Premiership return and look too strong. Connor McLennan, Graham Carey, Mohamed Sylla, Jannik Wanner and Stevie May are just a few of their exciting signings and David Martindale will look to give his new boys a chance at Bayview.

The Fifers have a poor League Cup record, too, crashing out in the group stage in eight of the last nine seasons, and it could be one-way traffic on Saturday.

Livingston must build momentum ahead of a potential relegation battle and Martindale will look to keep things tight at Bayview, which could lead to a fifth win to nil in five matches.
