Eibar vs Sevilla Predictions
Eibar have only lost once so far this season, a record only Real Madrid and Celta Vigo can better and they look an improved outfit on the side that tailed away badly last year. They went into the international break with an excellent 2-0 away win at Las Palmas and their only defeat came against Atletico Madrid.
Having finished 5th last year and qualified for the Champions League via winning the Europa League, Sevilla were expected to be strong again but their campaign got off to an awful start with just 2 points coming from their opening 5 fixtures.
However wins at home to Rayo Vallecano and last time out against Barcelona have lifted spirits for Unai Emery and his men. They go to Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday but they aren’t good enough to rest players and expect to pick up a comfortable win here.
They are yet to win away from home this season and on a tight pitch in Eibar, it will be a big ask for them to get all 3 points here. José Luis Mendilibar has had a really positive effect on the Basque side and some of his new signings are really paying off despite the tight financial controls with which he had to work.
A bad run of form is inevitable at some stage but despite Sevilla’s win over an equally out of sorts Barcelona, they haven’t shown enough yet to suggest they can come here and put in a commanding display and boss the game. Therefore Eibar look decent value with home advantage to pick up at least a point.
Sevilla will come here with a positive mentality so we should see goals in the game but don’t expect a goal-fest as even last season, Eibar were usually fairly solid defensively. This could well end in a 1-1 draw which would be reasonable result for both in the circumstances and can be backed at 5/1.
