Sociedad still in with a top four shout

Real Sociedad’s recent form, particularly defensively, has been quite sensational, with only Real Madrid managing to score against them in their last six games.

They have won four times during that period, but only once away from home, a 2-0 victory over struggling Mallorca.

Imanol Alguacil’s side are far from the most attractive to watch in La Liga, with only three of their last ten on the road including three or more goals – but each of those was against a side in the top half.

Elche up against it

It looked like Elche had pulled away from the relegation zone a few weeks ago, but they have lost four of their last five in La Liga and now sit just six points above the drop zone.

Two of those defeats have come on home soil, while Francisco’s side have played nine matches against teams in the top six over the course of the season and lost seven, registering just a couple of draws.

This will be a very tough fixture for them against a frugal defence, and their recent exploits in the final third, netting just five times in their last seven, do not inspire much confidence.
