England U21 vs Norway U21 Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews

Gareth Southgate has called up a host of well known names in this England U21 squad in an effort to retain the top spot in the UEFA U21 Championship group they currently lead. It’s a slender lead at the moment though, with them topping Switzerland U21 on goal difference and being just a point clear of Norway U21, although they do have a game in hand on Switzerland.

Premier League names include Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, defenders Calum Chambers, Ben Chilwell and Matt Targett, midfielders Nathaniel Chalobah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and James Ward-Prowse, and a scintillating attacking line up consisting of Demarai Gray, Jack Grealish, Marcus Rashford, Nathan Redmond, Dominic Solanke and Duncan Watmore.

This, when compared to Norway’s top quality players, is a tremendous squad for a youth team to possess. Norway U21, on the other hand, have only Real Madrid teenager Martin Odegaard to rely on in terms of potential top quality players at the moment.

Last time out England U21 drew at Switzerland to make it four wins and two draws in their last six matches. Their last defeat was just over a year ago when they lost 3-1 to Italy. On English turf they have won seven on the bounce as well and are unbeaten in nine. Five of these seven victories were high scoring affairs as well, and with the likes of Redmond and Rashford going forward I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few goals on Tuesday.

Norway U21 beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 away from home on Friday though to make it back to back wins after their comfortable 2-0 win over Bulgaria U21. That ended a seven match winless streak on the road though, six of which they had lost.

Considering England U21’s wealth of attacking talents and their home advantage I think odds of 17/20 for Over 2.5 Goals on Tuesday are excellent value, so I’m backing that along with a 3-1 correct score prediction at 12/1.
