Espanyol vs Valencia Predictions

Espanyol hoping to finish on a high

It has been an up and down season for Espanyol, but they have remained tough to beat at home for the majority of the campaign, losing just four times in 18 league matches.

Their recent run of form, four defeats in five and three wins in 17, is eye-watering, but Vicente Moreno’s side have won three of their last five at home, keeping clean sheets in each victory.

Indeed, their home matches do not tend to provide many goals, with none of the last six containing three or more and just 42 over the course of the season – and average of 2.33 per 90 minutes.

Valencia stuck in a rut

It has been a dreadful climax to the season for Valencia, whose eight game winless run includes losing the Copa del Rey final on penalties to Real Betis and a string of disappointing draws.

José Bordalás’ side do not tend to concede too many, and in fact have been breached more than once over 90 minutes on just three occasions in 13 outings.

But their attack is seriously under-performing, failing to score in half of their last ten fixtures, including a 0-0 draw at Athletic Bilbao and 2-0 defeat on the road at Villarreal.

I predict there will be fewer than three goals in this match, as both teams are reasonably strong defensively, but think Espanyol could nick the win, selecting 1-0 as a correct score prediction.
