Everton vs Arsenal Predictions

Everton’s manager Roberto Martinez found himself under a significant amount of pressure earlier in the season. Despite his teams’ exceptional attacking play they just couldn’t seem to win matches when it mattered, and a host of draws and defensive mistakes led to the Goodison Park faithful turning on the squad and their manager.

A couple of months on and Martinez is well on his way to repairing that damage. They beat Chelsea 2-0 in the FA Cup last weekend to book their place in the semi final of the competition, and they come into this match having won six of their last eight. They have managed to keep some rare clean sheets during this run as well, although their collapse against West Ham has shown that they still have vulnerabilities.

While Everton’s season is improving week by week, Arsenal are collapsing. Their 3-1 defeat to Barcelona on Wednesday sealed their seemingly inevitable exit from the Champions League, with this coming just days after Watford knocked them out of the FA Cup to ensure they don’t win the competition three seasons in a row.

This leaves Arsenal with just the Premier League to play for, but unfortunately for them their record of one win from their last eight games in all competitions has left them 11 points adrift of top of the table Leicester.

Both of these teams have goals in them. Everton have scored 18 goals in their last eight matches and seen at least three goals in five of these eight games. Each of Arsenal’s last six outings have seen three or more goals scored in them too. This makes odds of 7/10 for Over 2.5 Goals look really good value to me, and I’m also going for a 3-1 Everton win at incredible odds of 20/1.
