Everton vs Liverpool Betting Tips

After starting the season with a rather disappointing performance against the newly promoted Watford, Everton have improved drastically.

Their only loss of the season was against Manchester City towards the end of August, and overall they have won five of their nine matches in all competitions.

Their last match was a thrilling 3-2 win at West Brom, where they came from two goals behind to win the match.

This excellent run has left them in 5^th position in the table, one point ahead and four positions ahead of Liverpool coming into their biggest game of the season.

Injuries are a real concern though. They have no less than eight players sidelined for this match, including key defensive players such as Leighton Baines, John Stones, and Seamus Coleman.

Liverpool are also struggling for players, with Christian Benteke, Jordan Henderson, Jon Flanagan, Dejan Lovren, and Roberto Firmino all injured.

These injuries can’t explain their terrible run of results though. Their 3-2 win against Aston Villa last weekend was their first in seven games in all competitions, including defeats against West Ham and Manchester United and a draw against League Two side Carlisle.

But it was Daniel Sturridge’s return to the scoresheet that made the headlines last weekend, and his first two goals since March will have boosted his confidence enormously. If he can stay fit, then Rodgers’ has a chance of saving his job.

Both teams will be going all out for this match. The Liverpool squad will know that a win will see all their poor form forgotten, but Everton will want to take advantage of their main rivals’ poor form.

This, coupled with both sides’ defensive absentees and the fact that both teams have seen over 2.5 goals scored in three of their last five games make odds of 1/1 for Over 2.5 goals look like really good value, and that’s what I’m backing on Sunday.
