Everton vs Norwich Predictions
We could all see it coming, but this week it was finally confirmed as Everton sacked manager Roberto Martinez after a 3-0 defeat to Sunderland made it just one win in their last ten outings in all competitions, with six of these ending in defeat.
He was likely sacked with one game remaining simply to avoid a toxic return to Goodison Park for this game, but unfortunately for the players they will still have to show up there. It’s unlikely to be pleasant for them, and I don’t think we can class this as a home advantage any more.
Everton’s dismal Premier League season has left them down in 12th position in the table, and a defeat on Sunday could send them as low as 16th depending on other results. The highest they can climb is an equally disappointing 11th.
Norwich pulled off a fantastic 4-2 victory at home to Watford in midweek, ending their four match losing streak and making it three wins and a draw from their last eight matches.
It wasn’t enough to save them though. Sunderland’s victory over Everton put them four points clear of the drop zone, meaning that the relegation battle is over and Norwich will be returning to the Championship next season. I’m sure the Canaries will be keen to get their revenge on an Everton side who just didn’t show up on Wednesday.
The pressure will be off for Norwich now, and I think that could be a positive for them. They will want to end their short top flight stay on a positive note too, and a result at Everton, where the hosts have only won two of their last seven matches, shouldn’t be too difficult for them. Odds of 21/20 for a Norwich Win or Draw Double Chance look incredibly good value considering that Everton have the 3rd worst home record in the league this season, so I’m backing that along with a 1-1 correct score prediction at 7/1.
