Everton vs Stoke Predictions
Roberto Martinez had come under criticism for failing to get results after he saw his side lose 3-2 at home to Leicester. This result made it one from from their last five, but a somewhat fortuitous 1-0 victory over Newcastle on Boxing Day made it two wins from six.
This still isn’t good enough for a side wanting to get into Europe though. Their recent Premier League record stands at two wins, one defeat, and four draws.
This leaves them in 9th position in the Premier league, although they are still only four points off 5th placed Crystal Palace.
Stoke are a few positions lower than their opponents but have equalled their 26 point tally so far, and their 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Boxing Day was much more impressive than Everton’s stumble past Newcastle.
An opportunistic strike from Bojan and a cracker from Marco Arnautovic made it a fairly comfortable game for Stoke.
This was their 3rd 2-0 victory in their last five outings in all competitions, with the other two games ending 0-0 against West Ham and 2-1 to Crystal Palace.
Stoke have always been hard to beat, but their stern defence has been coupled with some real attacking flair over the past couple of seasons. Bojan, Marco Arnautovic, and Xherdan Shaqiri are players of real quality that can trouble any defence, and Everton’s defence hasn’t been great lately either.
The home side have conceded eight goals in their last five Premier League games. With Stoke keeping four clean sheets in their last five games and getting it right at the other end as well I think they have a good chance of getting a result here.
Odds of 17/20 for a Stoke Win or Draw Double Chance look really good value as well considering how hard they are to beat. I’m also going for a 2-1 correct score prediction at 14/1.
