Faroe Islands vs Kosovo Predictions
Faroe Islands made the perfect start to their Nations League group thanks to a 3-1 opening day victory at home to Malta however they followed this up with two defeats. They lost 2-0 away from home to Kosovo and on Thursday went down 3-0 at home to Azerbaijan, however that was a game the score doesn’t tell the whole story. The Faroes were much better in that game creating plenty of chances and had 18 shots at goal. They will know however nothing but a win gives them a chance of promotion now with their final 2 games both being away from home.
Kosovo have made an excellent start to their Nations League group with two wins and one draw from the opening round of games. They drew their opening game 0-0 away at Azerbaijan, a game which the Kosovan’s rode their luck. They were definitely second best pretty much all game but managed to get out of it with a draw and it’s been all positive since then. They followed that result up with a 2-0 win at home to Faroe Islands and a 3-1 home win against Malta on Thursday to put them in pole position going into the second half of games.
Faroe Islands are a much improved nation when you consider they are classed as one of the “minnows”. They have lost just 3 of their last 9 home games in all competitions, a 6-0 loss to Portugal, 2-0 to Switzerland and the aforementioned 3-0 loss against Azerbaijan. Outside that they are picking up points against teams you would expect them too, they have beaten Andorra, Liechtenstein and Malta and picked up draws against Hungary and Latvia.
Kosovo are a mightily impressive side and have made huge strides since their acceptance. They had a debut qualifying campaign to forget, finishing bottom with 1 point from 10 games but they have really matured and improved since then. They are now unbeaten in 7 games winning 6 and also scoring goals too which is usually a big problem for the poorer nations. They have scored 15 goals in those 7 games netting 2 or more goals on 5 occasions. Kosovo’s defence has also been excellent keeping 5 clean sheets in their last 7 meaning that whilst they can find the net, they can also keep them out.
Kosovo will see this as a big chance to put one foot into Group C and should they win here, a draw could be enough against Azerbaijan to secure a successful promotion which would be huge for Kosovo. They have really impressed with the way they approach the games and really do not have a “minnow” feel about them. Faroe Islands seem to be struggling at the moment, shipping 5 goals without reply in their last two Nations League games doesn’t breed confidence. We feel the away side will outplay the hosts and have too much here so we are backing Kosovo to win the match. Faroe Islands don’t look much of a goal threat and when consider Kosovo’s excellent defensive record of late we expect a shut out from the visitors. For that reason we are backing Kosovo to win 2-0 on the Correct Score market.
