FC Eindhoven vs FC Volendam Predictions

FC Eindhoven endured a nightmare start to the Eerste Divisie campaign with five straight defeats, however David Nascimento’s side have really got their act together over the past few weeks. Eindhoven have accrued eight points from their last four outings, a run which has lifted them from the foot of the table to 14^th place. They entertain Volendam at Jan Louwers Stadion on match day ten and will start favourites to bag their first win of the season at home.

Branco van den Boomen was the hero for FC Eindhoven last weekend as Blauw-witten beat NEC 0-1, to end the Nijmegen outfit’s 23 match unbeaten streak at Goffertstadion.

The result and performance was another significant step forward for David Nascimento’s side after beating an off-colour Jong Ajax 0-3 at the end of September, and Eindhoven are now up to 14^th after also securing draws against Roda JC (0-0) and Twente (1-1) on match day’s six and eight.

Eindhoven are still in search of their first home success of the campaign after one draw and three defeats thus far, but they have a good opportunity to break that duck this Friday against a Volendam side who are winless on the road this term and 17^th in the table with just seven points on the board from nine outings.

Volendam have themselves shown some improvement of late though since the arrival of new manager Hans de Koning.

Palingboeren are unbeaten in their last three games and played out a respectable 2-2 draw at home to co-leaders Almere City on match day nine, as Nick Doodeman hit a tremendous double salvo.

That result backed up a workmanlike 1-0 home victory against RKC a fortnight ago, and it appears de Koning has already gone some way to steadying the ship at the club.

We marginally prefer FC Eindhoven for the win in this one, but the fact they’ve yet to secure a victory at Jan Louwers Stadion in 2018/19 is enough for us to swerve the match betting market.

Instead, we’re opting for under 2.5 goals at a generous price, as that’s been the outcome in five of Volendam’s nine games and in six of Eindhoven’s nine fixtures so far this season. Furthermore, three of the last six meetings between the teams have finished with fewer than under 2.5 goals (including last season’s corresponding fixture which ended 1-0 to FC Eindhoven) so the odds on offer represent value.

Alongside our main bet, we’re recommending a small wager on a repeat of last term’s 1-0 score line in favour of the hosts.
