FC Porto vs Borussia Dortmund Predictions
Goals either side of half time from Łukasz Piszczek and Marco Reus in the first leg of this round of 32 draw earned Borussia Dortmund a well deserved 2-0 victory against FC Porto. With the return of top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Dortmund pressured the visitors from the start and dominated the game in terms of both possession (63%) and attempts on goal (16 attempts).
Porto, in contrast, only managed 4 attempts, as Dortmund controlled the game’s pace and rhythm in front of the home crowd. However, Porto have proved hard to beat in European competition in recent years, particularly on home soil and won’t go down without a fight. The Portugese giants beat Bayern Munich 3-1 at home in the Champions League last season.
REASON FOR BETTING TIPS
Porto were unbeaten in 12 games at home in European competitions (won 9 and drawn 3) before their loss to FC Dynamo Kyiv in their last home game of their Champions League campaign last November. Dortmund have lost all three of their previous fixtures in Portugal, and as such will be likely looking to keep hold of their 2-0 lead from the first leg playing very possession heavy, more conservative football, rather than going out with guns blazing looking for a “goal fest”. Dortmund only need 1 goal in their favour to almost certainly secure a seat into the next round at which point all they need do is keep up the high levels of possesion they maintained all last game. Porto won’t go down without a fight though and a late consolation goal as they throw men forward wouldnt come as a surprise. Under 2.5 goals with a score of 1-1 at 11/2 seems about right for this match.
