FC Porto to Win and Under 3.5 Match Goals
Reasoning
FC Porto vs Santa Clara Predictions
- Porto have won three of their last five home games to nil.
- Santa Clara have failed to score in each of their last four league games
- Porto have not scored more than three goals in their last 11 Primeira Liga matches
Porto poised to keep up Benfica pursuit
Porto’s title defence is just about still alive after their victory at Estadio da Luz last week and they should take another three points at home to rock-bottom Santa Clara on Saturday. The Dragons will take to the field just as Benfica’s game at Chaves is finishing and they will know when they kick off if there is a chance to reduce the leaders’ seven-point advantage further.
If the Eagles slip up then Sergio Conceicao’s side will probably tear into the Azoreans and win with a flourish, but they are still good enough to secure a comfortable victory anyhow.
Santa Clara have lost eight straight games and seem totally doomed to demotion. They have not scored in their last four league contests and were well beaten by fourth-placed Sporting Lisbon on their last trip to a Portuguese giant.
Deflated Santa Clara seem doomed to make the drop
They lost by a similar score, 3-0, at the Dragao last season and the final score this Saturday is likely to be something similar. Porto are not as potent as in the past with one or two of their forwards not quite firing at the moment, but they are good enough to rattle in at least two goals against a deflated opponent.
