It is slowly dawning on Cruzeiro fans that they find themselves in a relegation battle and despite some recent good results, it’s imperative they get something here. This match sees 18th place Cruzeiro travel to Figueirense who are 17th and just 1 point better off but with a game in hand. It is very tight in the bottom half and anyone who puts two or three wins together can suddenly find themselves heading rapidly into mid-table but that is easier said than done.

Figueirense have only won 1 of their last 10 Serie A games which clearly is a concern but unlike the bottom two clubs they have been very competitive in almost all of their games. They’ve lost by more than one goal on only two occasions this season and have picked up 6 draws from those 10 recent outings so their points tally is ticking along but only wins are going to drag them towards safety. They were beaten 2-0 at Ponte Preta last time out but despite being in the drop-zone, they do still boast an unbeaten home record.

Therefore it’s hard to see Cruzeiro coming here and winning but they have at least shown signs of improvement in their last few matches. A 4-2 home win against Inter was followed up by an excellent away draw at defending champions Corinthians. They would have been a little disappointed though to have only drawn last weekend at home to Coritiba.

It’s hard to look at this game without thinking the draw might be the most likely outcome. 4 of Figueirense’s last 5 home games have finished level and no Serie A side has drawn more than them this season. Cruzeiro though are at least scrapping for each other now and come into this match following successive draws so backing the Draw at 23/10 certainly looks to offer the best value in this one.
