Finland Women vs Germany Women Predictions

  • Germany are through after two wins from two, but will want to keep their momentum ahead of the QFs.
  • Germany have been ruthless finishers so far, scoring six goals from a total xG of 4.2 over their two games.
  • Finland’s xG against is almost seven and they have shipped five goals in the tournament while scoring only once.

Die Nationalelf will have no mercy

Germany’s impressive Euro 2022 campaign should continue in Milton Keynes on Saturday when they can again enjoy a comfortable victory over Group B strugglers Finland. Martina Voss-Tecklenburg will be keen to keep up the momentum they have achieved through 4-0 and 2-0 wins over two teams much better on paper than the Finns.

Even if she chooses to display die Nationalelf’s impressive squad depth by rotating her starting line-up there is enough quality there to get the job done with ease.

Finland are playing for purely pride, but will be without first-choice goalkeeper Tinja-Riika Korpela and that could be a big problem if they intend to keep Germany quiet.

Pick Popp to burst Finns’ bubble

Alex Popp has been in awesome form and will be an obvious candidate to score given she struck twice the last time these teams met, a 7-0 friendly win some 12 years ago.

The final score might not be too far away from that either with Germany’s xG numbers suggesting they are capable of scoring four – and probably covering a -3 handicap bet in this contest. Similarly, Finland have conceded a couple of goals fewer than their xG suggests they should have done – mainly due to Denmark’s poor finishing.

A 4-0 win is taken in correct score betting as Finland, on a run of four straight defeats, have managed to score just twice during that run.
