Flamengo vs CSA Predictions
Sunday’s Brazilian Serie A action sees Flamengo doing battle with CSA at the Maracana. The hosts arrive as massive favourites to win the game and it could be a long 90 minutes for the visitors.
Flamengo come into the game off the back of a historic night in midweek, in which they put on a stunning show to crush Gremio 5-0 and book their place in the Copa Libertadores final. Jorge Jesus’ troops are well on course to crown themselves kings of Brazil and South America and it’s fair to say there’s a great feeling around the club at the moment.
Indeed, as far as the league goes, Flamengo are pretty much home and hosed. They’ve been stunning all season and have won 20 of their 27 matches, giving them a huge 10 point advantage at the top with just 11 games left to play. Having won 10 of their last 11 home matches, the hosts shouldn’t be having any issues in Sunday’s game and having also scored an average of 2.45 goals a game over said fixtures, CSA have every reason to come to Rio fearful.
Indeed, after securing a somewhat surprising promotion last season, CSA were always likely to struggle in Serie A and so it has proved. The visitors are a very limited outfit of little technical quality and currently 3 points short of safety down in 18th, it’s looking like they are going to suffer an immediate return to the second tier.
Whilst in recent weeks CSA have improved on home soil and claimed some big wins, their away record is still awful and makes for very poor reading. Overall, they’ve lost 9 of their 13 away games this season and having conceded an average of 1.84 goals a game over said fixtures, it’s really not hard to see why.
Ultimately, anything but a big home win is simply unimaginable in this match. On paper, it’s a complete mismatch and Flamengo have resources and quality CSA can only dream of. Flamengo are on fire and have been for numerous months now, whereas CSA are a weak and limited outfit.
All things considered, backing Flamengo on the -2 handicap has captured our attention and is something we’re more than happy to do. Flamengo showed what a powerful outfit they are with their resounding midweek win and they should have far too much firepower for CSA, with a 4-0 home win well on the cards.
